CAN Meeting: Organizational Effectiveness and Appreciative Inquiry: A Qualitative Assessment Tool with Many Applications

Location:
60 Barrows Hall
Date:
11/03/2009 10:30am - 12:00pm

Presenter: Elizabeth Elliott, Director of the Center for Organizational and Workforce Development.

The purpose of organizational assessment is to build the foundation for positive organizational change. There are many points of entry for assessing an organization and many tools to evaluate what works and what doesn't. Appreciative Inquiry is a qualitative approach to organizational change that begins with a discovery of the strengths of an organization in order to build on them a more positive future. In today's session, we will explore and discuss the principles of AI as they can apply to an assessment of an organization, a team, a project, an employee, student learning and other areas.

[An aside from Katie: When meeting to discuss her presentation, Liz did a quick AI exercise with me, asking me probing questions about what I did right during a recent project. I left our meeting feeling absolutely terrific – it’s nice to not focus on all that went wrong!]

Lunch: After the meeting, join Liz and Katie at the Faculty Club for a no-host lunch and the opportunity to continue the discussion.

Everyone welcome; no need to RSVP.
