Mission and Purpose
MENASA’s mission and purpose build on the work of existing identity-based staff organizations but with a focus on the MENASA community at Cal which is largely unrepresented in these spaces:
- Promote the general welfare of MENASA staff, faculty, and students at the University of California, Berkeley
- Strengthen the professional and social networking between MENASA staff and faculty, the Berkeley campus community, the University of California systemwide, and the general public
- Encourage the recruitment, hiring, promotion, and retention of MENASA faculty, staff, and students
- Review and assess campus issues and their impact on the MENASA campus community
Advocating for greater visibility and inclusivity of the MENASA population on campus, including better data collection, recognition of URM status, and expansion of MENASA representation within various University structures and levels of campus organization.
Serves as means to empower and educate the broader community regarding the nuances of the MENASA community.
Provide greater opportunities for professional development for the MENASA staff and faculty community.
